Donna Jean Smith, 82 peacefully passed away Saturday January 5, 2019 at her home in San Marcos, CA. She was born in Painesville, OH on May 24, 1936 to Norman and Verna Cline. Her parents took her home to Cleveland where she lived until the age of 8. Soon after the family moved to Conneaut, OH on Lake Erie for her health. She graduated Conneaut High School in 1954 where she met her future husband “Bud”. Her sister Cindy (Patterson) was born when she was 10 and sister Sandy (Horne) when she was 15 and finally a brother Mark Cline 2 years later. Following her marriage in 1956, she worked in Columbus, OH as a statistician for the State of Ohio, an administrative assistant for CooperVision, and held several positions in document reprographics for Fluor Corporation. After leaving Ohio, she and her husband and children lived in Sunnyvale, CA; Houston, TX; the outskirts of The Hague in the Netherlands; and then back to Southern California. She was an avid and devoted dog trainer/breeder specializing in Papillons. She is survived by her husband Donald W. (“Bud”) Smith, children Debi and David, four grandchildren – Jonathan, Ryan, Missy, and David, and one great-grandchild (Emrick).
