June Lisa Medved was born on February 5, 1971 and passed away on May 25, 2018. She was 47. She fought many courageous battles and beat the odds many times. This time she did not win. She was surrounded by her family; her father, Richard Medved, her mother, Linda Medved and sister, Joy Medved. They have been by her side constantly. Her Uncle David Kenneth Pierson flew from Ohio in to help keep her company and Richard's cousin Ray Medved from San Diego visited her regularly too. She had Leukemia when she was two. Her first Kidney Transplant at age 13, the second at 19 and her third at 29. We were always thankful to those three families who believed in organ donation. She volunteered at Life Sharing signing people up for organ donation and working on the Rose Parade Float. She spent two summers at Wolf Park in Lafayette, Indiana as a volunteer taking care of the wolves and many summers at the San Diego Safari Park.
June was a military child and as such she lived all over the country. The family always came back to San Diego and that's where she called home even though she was born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. June graduated from Valhalla High School and earned an AA at Cuyamaca College. She had two great loves in her life. One was animals. She went to Moorpark College and studied in their exotic animal program. She always wanted to be a Zoo Keeper. The other love was for her MINI. She was a member of The Southern California MINI Maniacs (SCMM) and was the San Diego Area Director. She loved being part of that group. Her MINI was red with white stripes and she went on many MINI runs and events. Last Christmas she was happy when she took part in the SCMM ugly sweater contest and won. The family would like to thank all those that made her life enriched.
