Richard Thompson Wold, M.D., 83, passed unexpectedly in his sleep on Friday, October 12, 2018, at his home in Lake San Marcos. Survivors include his wife Lucy (Freehafer) Wold, sons Dirk Wold and Roderick Wold, grandchildren Hannah Wold and Jared Wold all of the Denver area, and sister Kathryn Bean of Falls Church, VA. A Memorial Service was held November 4, 2018 at Questhaven Retreat, San Marcos.
Born in Los Angeles on January 31, 1935, Richard spent his childhood years in Burlingame, CA, Shaker Heights, OH, and Worcester, MA. He was in the first graduating class of Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, CA and spent nine years (1953-1962) at Stanford University in Palo Alto earning Bachelors, Masters and Medical Degrees. Richard served on the staffs of Scripps Clinic & Research Foundation in La Jolla and National Jewish Hospital in Denver. He was in private medical practice specializing in Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology in Lake San Marcos from 1972 to 1994.
