Virginia Shanahan Obituary

     Virginia Ann “Ginny” Shanahan (Kaiser), age 84, formerly of Rochester, New York, died on October 23, 2019, in her home in La Costa, California. A closed, private service for family and close friends will be held in November. Her remains will be inurned at Miramar National Cemetery.

     Ginny was born in Rochester, New York, to Frank H. Kaiser II and Marion B. Downs on February 23, 1935. She graduated from Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women in 1953 and attended Misericordia University. She married Daniel William Shanahan on October 23, 1954, in Rochester, New York. She co-owned and managed Danvir Graphics with her husband for nine years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved to travel and entertain. She saw the world several times over, taking more than fifty cruises on the Stella Solaris, QE2 (Cunard), and several ships with the Holland America Line. She enjoyed playing cards and was involved in several bridge clubs, including one at her home parish of Saint Elizabeth Seaton.

     Ginny is preceded in death by her father, Frank H. Kaiser II, mother, Marion B. Downs, and brother, Richard Kaiser. Ginny is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Daniel William Shanahan; her four children Kathy (Bob Zito), Daniel (Dayna), Donna (Dale Koren), and Meg; seven grandchildren Elizabeth (Cullen Monk), Megan (Robert Eacret), Ian (Stacey Ramskov), Colin, Devin, Jake, and Jack; and eight great-grandchildren William Eacret, Risdon Eacret, Reagan Monk, Faelan Monk, Claire Ramskov, Audrey Jo Eacret, Maggie Rose Monk, and Lars Ramskov.
