Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend, Aurora Lopez slipped away from a life well-lived on Monday, May 5, 2023 at the age of 93. The youngest of three siblings Aurora was born to Hope San Miguel Pena and Guadalupe Alfonzo Cardenas on February 7, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas. Over the years Aurora became the glue who connected family and friends hosting holiday dinners and celebrations – surrounded by family and friends brought her joy and her smile and her laughter lit up the room. She was a woman of many passions. Her love of learning led her to attaining an Associative of Arts degree and fostered her love of penning her own poetry. She loved the soft edges of water colors and created a few of her own. Her adventurous curious spirit carried her and her husband Robert to far away exotic places around the world. Lastly, Aurora’s fondness for leisurely lunches followed by shopping for handbags, shoes or jewelry was unrivaled. She was a fashion maven and enjoyed dressing up and dressing up her family. Her loving generous spirit will be missed. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert and her mother Hope, and survived by her daughters Barbara Chapman and Wanda Thompson and their respective spouses Dallas and Rex; her grandchildren Blake and Rachel; her sister Irene Flores and her two daughters, Corrine Hemesath and Patricia Shoemaker.
