Bernie Badiang Bernardino

Bernie Badiang Bernardino was born Friday, October 4, 1935 in Castillejos, Zambales Philippines to Santiago Bernardino and Francisca Madarang. On July 1st, 1960, at the age of 25, he followed his dreams of traveling the world and enlisted in the United States Navy. On April 7, 1970, Bernie Bernardino married Marie Mata in San Antonio, Zambales, Philippines. The Navy brought Bernie and Marie to San Diego in 1972 and they’ve called San Diego home ever since. After working aboard ships for thirty-seven years, Bernie and Marie opened and operated a home health care facility for the elderly in Escondido, CA. He served in the United States Navy from 1960-1980 and served in the Merchant marines from 1989-2006. He is survived by his beloved wife Marie of 53 years, two children—Richard and Scott--and granddaughter Kaili.  Bernie passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.  Bernie will always be remembered as a loving, strong, caring husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
