Within a span of five hours, on July 18, 2020, the Good Lord welcomed Bill Tiglao and Mona Lisa Tiglao into HIS arms.
Bill, formerly known as Ruben, born March 23, 1929, and Mona Lisa, formerly known as Simeona (Alipio), born October 28, 1928, passed away on July 18, 2020. Both were 91 years old. Up to the very end, our parents have proven their love for one another, not wanting to be separated for any length of time. They both fell in love while they were in high school and have been together ever since. They were married for 70 years. A touching anecdote that happened a couple of weeks ago: when Mom was about to get admitted to Palomar Medical Center, and Dad was already there, I requested the staff if it was possible for them to be in same room. The doctors and nurses made it happen, such that when Mom was being wheeled into Dad’s room, she blurted out, ‘There is my high school sweetheart!’ They held hands throughout, leaving not a dry eye in the room.
Dad was a CPA in the Philippines who became a college professor. Mom was an elementary schoolteacher. They immigrated to the US in the late 1970’s. They worked hard until they retired and focused on their dancing and love of their grandchildren. They are survived by the families of their five children –son Jim, the eldest who passed away much too soon, married to Carrie, daughter Gilda, married to James Thomas, residing in Tennessee, daughter Ava, married to Ador Salunga, son Paul, married to Jocelyn Batacan,, and daughter Celia, married to Waheeb Khattab, residing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. They have 11 grandchildren – Bjorn (married to Kay Indiongco) and James Reuben (sons of Jim and Carrie), Jay and William (sons of Gilda and James), Arianne and Hazel (daughters of Ava and Ador), Jonathan (son of Paul and Joy), Fatima, Bandar, Bakr and Badr (children of Celia and Waheeb). They also have two great grandchildren from Bjorn and Kay – Mackenzie Love and Kingsley Bjorn.
They have touched so many people with their grace, love, patience, and understanding. Mom and Dad, we dearly love you and miss you terribly.
