CAROLYN ANN PURCELL

Carolyn Ann Purcell passed away peacefully on May 6, 2022, at Life Care Center of Vista at the age of 60.

Carolyn was born on June 29, 1961 in Oceanside, California to Truman and Emiko Purcell.  She grew up in Vista, California and then moved to Altus, Oklahoma at the age of sixteen.  She attended Vista High School and graduated from Altus High School.  Carolyn attended Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, OK and Trident Tech in North Charleston, SC where she took culinary classes.

Carolyn loved her family and was a very protective and supportive older sister.  She was proud of her sister and treated her nephews and niece as though they were her own.  Despite the distance, Carolyn always kept in touch and always made them feel appreciated and loved.  She treated them like they were her own children and loved sharing pictures and videos of their activities, careers, families and their pets.  They are grateful for her support through the years and will miss her dearly.

Throughout Carolyn’s life, she would stand up for others and take it upon herself to advocate for the underdog.  She was never afraid to speak up for herself or for those in need.  She loved animals and especially loved her cat, Tabby Lou.  Carolyn loved to cook and was very artistic.  She enjoyed painting, coloring, and crafting.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and when she was able, she enjoyed serving others in her church. She served in the resource center in her home ward and loved interacting with the other members.  When she became ill, her faith sustained her as did the help and care from sisters in her ward. She believed that her time and life was in God's hands and remained faithful until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emiko Shin and Truman Purcell and her beloved Tabby Lou.

Carolyn is survived by her sister, Joanne Lee (Choctaw, OK), her nephews, Mike Lee (Seattle, OK), Christopher Lee (Oklahoma City, OK) and her niece, Julianne Curtis (West Jordan, UT), her aunt and uncle, George and Virginia Purcell (Vista, CA), cousins, Trudy McClure (Vista, CA) and Frank Purcell (Escondido, CA).

Her graveside services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 10:00am at San Marcos Cemetery.
