It is with heavy hearts that Debra E. Lusardi’s family said their final goodbyes to their most beloved wife, mom, auntie, and Tutu on Friday November 8, 2024. She has left behind a big footprint with her loving family, wonderful friends, and the North County community.
Debbie was one of those of whom it could be said, once met, never forgotten. She had a big personality, a beautiful smile, was outspoken and some say “a force to be reckoned with”. The youngest of three, Debra was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas and moved to Southern California at a young age with her family. She ferociously guarded her age and instead focused on living life to its fullest. She refused to “let the old person in.” When she met the love of her life, Warner, he expressed to her that a life with him would be an incredible adventure that would go by in a flash, and so it did. They traveled the world together, met many interesting people who became life-long friends and made everlasting memories.
She loved her family first and foremost. After the passing of her nephew, Robert Calandri, from Cystic Fibrosis in 1994, Debbie was passionate about a cure. She gathered her friends, coordinated and chaired an annual CF Day at the races for many years. Another passion she and Warner have supported together is our community hospital, Scripps Encinitas. They embraced the entire Scripps family along with many more unnamed charities.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Warner Lusardi; son, Scott (Franci) Free; step-daughter, Lisa Lusardi Brock; grandchildren, Danielle (Bill) Leslie, Weston (Emily) Free, and Jake Brock; great-grandchildren, London & Trace Leslie, Clara, Dean, & Eddie Free.
A private memorial ceremony will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, the Lusardi family invites you to honor Debbie’s legacy by donating to:
