Elias Gallegos Obituary

Elias D. Gallegos, age 58 of San Marcos California, was called home to be with The Lord, on May 27, 2021.

He will always be loved, greatly missed, and will never be forgotten.

Elias was the adored father of 3 beautiful boys, Christian Gallegos (20), Aden Gallegos (18) and Rey Gallegos (13). Elias was the 3rd oldest of 6 siblings. He was a reserved and humble man. Elias was the first in his family to graduate college. First graduating with an AA from Ohlone CC, he went on to work as a drafter for Sandia National Laboratories, Hussmann Corp., then Peterbilt Motors Co. in Newark, CA.

When Peterbilt Motors shut down their facility in Newark, CA., Elias decided to apply at U.C. Berkeley to obtain his Civil Engineering degree and he was accepted. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1997 with his Civil Engineering degree. Soon after, working in San Francisco, he met his wife, Argelia Santos and they were married in 1999.

Elias accepted a position to Nolte Engineering which required him to move to Reno, Nevada. A year later, Nolte, relocated him to the San Diego area where he finally worked for the City of San Marcos as a Senior Civil Engineer for the past 16 years. He worked on many engineering projects at the City of San Marcos. One of the most memorable projects, was the building of a bridge named "The Borden Bridge" where he was the Senior Engineer and project manager. It was an extremely exciting project as Elias was featured in the City of San Marcos magazine. The city was celebrating 50 years of Cityhood in 2013 as well as the opening ceremony of The Borden Bridge. Elias happened to own a 63 Impala SS in mint condition which was built in the same year that San Marcos became a city. They featured Elias and his 63 Impala in the magazine where he was mentioned as part of the grand opening, Elias took the first drive over The Borden Bridge in his Impala. It was incredibly proud moment for Elias.  The last project that Elias participated in was “the San Marcos Creek Project”. He was not able to see the completion of this project due to his illness.

One of Elias’s passions was working with wood. He created many memorable pieces of art that will always be admired for years to come.  Over the years, he made his own custom oak desk that he admired deeply. He also made his boys their own desks as well. He also made miniature harps and other projects.  His second passion was his 63 Impala SS that he worked on and restored. He was exceptionally proud of his car.

Over his entire time in San Marcos, Elias loved to visit his parents in Livermore. He would make the 8-hour trip twice a year to visit his parents and family.

Elias was a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ our Heavenly Father. He was an active member at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church.

Elias’ love for his family was greatly evident in all that he did for his beloved wife Argelia and his beautiful three sons.  Taking trips to the beach with his family was something he treasured deeply. His oldest son, Christian is in college studying to follow in his father’s footsteps as a civil engineer.

All of Elias' family & friends are immensely proud of him and his accomplishments. He was an amazing father, husband, son, brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, godfather and friend.

Elias is survived by his wife Argelia Gallegos, his 3 sons, Christian Gallegos, Aden Gallegos and Rey Gallegos, his parents Maria & Rogelio Gallegos of Livermore, CA., his 3 brothers, Antonio Gallegos of Fair Oaks, CA, Rafael Gallegos of Newark, CA, Benito Gallegos of Livermore, CA., his 2 sisters, Anita Barriga of Livermore, CA. & Cecilia Carrasco of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins.

Elias will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Words cannot express how grateful we are for your generous support and encouraging words. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers in our time of need.

Until we meet again.
