Helen Alice (Olson) Lokken
September 11, 1936 – September 29, 2023
Age 87 of Lake San Marcos, CA & formerly of Woodbury, MN. Helen graduated from Kindred High School in Kindred, ND in 1954 and she attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.
Preceded in death by husband, Roger Lokken; son, Dean Lokken; parents, Herman & Alice (Husebye) Olson; parent in-laws, Carl & Ragna (Larson) Lokken; brother, Marlan Olson; sister-in-law, Ivonne Olson; brother-in-law, Rodney Lokken; and sister, Betty May Olson
Survived by daughter, Deborah Lokken Berg; son-in-law, Jeffrey Berg; daughter-in-law, Nina Manzi; grandson, Franklin Berg; granddaughter, Kjerstin Berg; sister-in-law, Judy Lokken; nieces, Jamie Kinne & Julie Lokken Ruschmeyer; and Nephews, Jay Olson & David Lokken; and many friends and relatives.
Vocations: Helen had many talents and passions including lifelong student, Norwegian acanthus woodcarver, musician, hostess extraordinaire, world traveler, care giver, home renovator, family genealogist, famed chocolate chip cookie baker, and author; plus receptionist, technical writer and statistics technician for the Soil Conservation Service.
Helen’s heart of hearts was her devotion to her husband Roger – who frequently quipped that Helen was ‘She who must be adored’ and to her family, especially her grandchildren. Nothing made her smile brighter than to spend time with them.
Family service on Saturday, October 21 with private interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery, Roseville, MN. Celebration of Life with Helen’s San Marcos, CA area friends will be held in December 2023.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Vesterheim Folk Art School (vesterheim.org) or to donor's choice.
