Helen Elizabeth Orchen

Helen Elizabeth (Kelly) Orchen, 90, of Carlsbad, entered God’s kingdom on Easter Monday, April 10, 2023.

She was born December 15, 1932 to John and Mary Kelly of Simsbury, CT.

Helen, the most loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother is survived by her sister, Eileen (Kelly) Russo, sisters-in-law, Helen Orchen and Irene Kelly, her daughter and son-in-law Lisa and John, her son Randy, her granddaughter, Elizabeth, her grandsons, John and Jaelin, and numerous nieces and nephews, dear friends and neighbors.

After graduating Simsbury High School, she went to the New England Deaconness School of Nursing and devoted her life to helping others. She relocated to Los Angeles, CA where she met the love of her life Melvin Orchen. They would be married for over 40 years. Helen was very active in her beloved church community, St. Elizabeth Seton, as a daily communicant, member of the Women’s Auxiliary, Women’s Christian Fellowship and multiple bible study groups. She loved to have fun with her family and friends.

Helen is predeceased by her parents, Mary and John Kelly, her sisters Mary Greene and Anne Consolini, her brother, William Kelly, her husband, Melvin Orchen and her son, Mark Orchen.
