Hung Ba "Billy" Nguyen, age 78, passed away on Dec 24, 2024. Born on Apr 23, 1946, in Bắc Giang province in Vietnam, he joined the Vietnamese Air Force when he was 18, and during the fall of Vietnam, he flew a helicopter and helped others and himself escape to safety. After a couple relocations in the U.S. as a refugee, he ended up at a refugee camp in Pensacola, FL. After his time there, he reunited with Kim Chung (who had also escaped the fall of Vietnam as a refugee) and started a family with her in New Orleans, LA. Hung started a prestigious career as a welder, specializing in underwater welding. In 1989, he and his family moved to southern CA to be closer to the rest of his family, including his mother and a few siblings who had just immigrated to the U.S. He became an entrepreneur later in life, after an injury ended his welding career. He was a devoted father and he always had ideas about how to improve life and help others. Hung is survived by his loving wife, Kim Chung; and his children, Theresa, Andre, and Monique. A celebration of Hung's life will be held on Friday, January 17th, 2025 at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel. 1:45pm Viewing. 2pm Speaking. 3pm Reception. 4pm Concludes.
