Lt. Col. James E. Quill (Ret.), 81, passed away on October 4, 2018, from cancer. Jim was born in Brownsville, Texas, and graduated from Texas State University. He was a member and President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After graduating from college, Jim was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served for over 20 years, including two tours in Vietnam. His positions included Assault Amphibian Vehicle Officer, Motor Transport Officer, and Logistics Officer. Jim was honored with the Navy Commendation Medal with Valor, Meritorious Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross and numerous other awards. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Jim, his wife, Judy and their children moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where he was a superintendent of a construction company. The family returned to California where Jim had careers with Monier Roof Tile, established AMQ Roofing with partners Paul Mayer and Dave Archer, and worked for Weir Construction.
Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Quill. He is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Jimmy Quill and his wife, Harper and their child Tallulah; step-daughter Kim Veal and her husband Michael; step-daughter Robin Khayat and her husband Darius and their children, Kaitlyn, Carly, and Cole, along with a large extended family. Jim was a remarkable man and loved by many.
