Janet Meryl Arris

Janet Meryl Arris moved from this life to the next with the Lord God’s presence shining brighter with each step on December 16, 2021, she was 91 years old.

Janet was born on October 14, 1930 on a farm in Nebraska.  She moved with her parents Dutch and Pearl Everett and her sister Shirley in 1934 and lived mostly in Southern California.  She was an RN and had a BA in health education.  Her career included school nursing at Oceanside High Schools for 23 years.

She married Robert Johnson in 1952 (d.1966) and they had four children, Judith (d.1953), Tracy (d.1998), Taryn and Trent Johnson.  She loved them very much.

She married David Arris in 1977 and acquired two more children, David P. (d.2007) and Valerie Arris.  She had two granddaughters, Noelle and Chloe Johnson and 3 grandsons, Luke and Daniel Arris and Ryan Vinall, two great-grandsons, Eli and William Arris, plus nephews and nieces, and grand-nephews and nieces.  In addition to her children she leaves behind her brother Laurel (Butch), his wife Cindy, her daughter-in-law Diane, her son-in-law Matthew and many friends.

Janet and her husband Dave enjoyed backpacking, skiing, bicycling, watercolor painting and traveling.  In 1988 Dave had a stroke that altered their lives, but they forged ahead living life as fully as possible.  She supported and encouraged Dave in all of his endeavors until he died in 2012.  Her church, Grace Presbyterian in Vista and the people there helped her in countless ways.  She had many losses in her life, but far more blessings and was sustained by her faith in God and His wonderful strengths along the way.
