Jay Ronald Jones, 73, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born on January 21, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, Jay lived a life devoted to helping others. As a Special Education school teacher, he made a lasting difference in the lives of countless students through his patience, encouragement, and genuine belief in their abilities. Teaching was more than a profession for Jay—it was a calling that reflected his compassionate heart.
Jay was known for his loyalty, sweet nature, and wonderful sense of humor. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for. Whether sharing a joke, offering a helping hand, or simply listening, Jay brought warmth and comfort to those around him. His kindness was steady and sincere, and his friendships often lasted a lifetime.
He embraced life with enthusiasm and loved staying active. Some of his happiest moments were spent playing beach volleyball, pickleball, golf and riding his bike. He enjoyed the outdoors, friendly competition, and the camaraderie that came with sharing those activities with others.
Above all, Jay cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kerry; his daughter, Katie; and his treasured grandson, Caleb. He is also survived by his sisters, Terrea and Susie; his stepdaughter, Breawn, and her husband, Bryan; his stepson, Brian, and his wife, Jane; and his step grandchildren, Bridyn, Korbin, Rya, and Dawson.
To his family, Jay was a source of strength, laughter, and unconditional love. To Kerry, he was a devoted husband and cherished partner whose love enriched every day they spent together. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his spirit lives on in the memories, values, and love he shared so generously.
Jay will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of his family and friends. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love a gift that will endure always.
In honor of Jay's bright spirit and love for bringing people together, a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August, 2, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Creek Estates Clubhouse, 5275 Pilgrim Way, Oceanside, CA. Guests are invited to wear their favorite Hawaiian Shirt, or bright colors.
