Jean A. Ancona

Jean Agnes Drummond was born to her parents Mary May Drummond and Clarence Edward Drummond and to her 3 year old brother John Edward Drummond.

When Jean was 9 she enjoyed entertaining and bringing joy to other children with her brother John, as was documented in their local newspaper, the Oswego Palladium Times. Her brother and pal John were very close, she always said "John took care of me a lot" as her Mom worked long hours as a nurse at the local hospital. The local newspaper story read; " -MARIONETTE SHOW- FULTON, NY. March 15, 1940—Miss Jean Drummond, 9, and her brother  John Drummond, 13, will present their marionette show to Fulton children during the story hour at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the Fulton Public Library. Another Headline Read: "Puppet Shows Are Hobby Of Fulton Youth and Sister". Over the next three years they provided entertainment doing their shows for the local children at various kinds of meetings and parties, many of the shows at the Fulton Library. Jean made the local newspapers again as she danced for other children the Palladium Times wrote; - FULTON - May 26, 1941 -Dancing pupils of Miss Madlyne O'Brien presented their annual spring revue Monday night at Recreation Park auditorium. Pupils taking part range in age from four years to adults. The Grasshopper Dance was performed by Jean Drummond.

Jean attended Fulton High School and Graduated in the class of 1949, as Senior she earned the nickname "Stach" as in statuesque, defined as, attractively tall and dignified. Jean was taller than other girls perhaps that is why they made her captain of the basket team! Jean was very outgoing and was very active in high school. Besides playing basketball she was in Music Club; Band; Journalism Club; Volleyball; Track; Softball; Commercial Club; Newcomb; and Badminton.                                

Miss Jean Drummond, daughter of Mrs. Mary May Drummond-Kaiser of Rochester St., was married to John R. Ancona. The wedding took place at Hollywood, Florida, in The Church of the Little Flower, on January 12th, 1952. As reported two weeks later in the Oswego Valley News.

Toward the end of 1952 Mrs. Jean Ancona had the first of four boys Martin Ancona, followed by John Ancona Jr. born in 1958, and David Ancona in 1961, and then Jay Ancona in 1962. Jean excelled as a Domestic Engineer; AKA: a stay-at-home mother caring for her family and managing the household affairs. She was a great wife and mother, she was also involved in scouting with all her boys. In what little time she had for herself she enjoyed bowling and playing the organ in her spare time, one of her favorites she'd play was "Moon River" as noted in epitaph on her Urn the plaque reads "At Moon Rivers Rainbows End". She enjoyed watching and listening to UFO programs and loved to joke about meeting those "little green guys!". Jean was a very kind and funny, and a loving, giving person, she always had a smile. She loved to attend Bible study at St. Marks in San Marcos, CA, and just revered Father George. Jean lost her mother in 1970 Mrs. Mary May Kaiser, her brother John E Drummond, and recently her first Grandchild Nicole Catherine Ancona whom she had a very special bond with, both recently passed away in 2017, so they are all now once again reunited!

Early on in their marriage Jean worked for General Electric as an assembler of military electronics. So did her husband John for a short time. But then over time he became self employed in various small businesses in the Fulton, NY area. Eventually becoming a partner in a successful Amusement Vending business which they sold in 1970 and decided to leave Fulton, NY behind. They moved to Fort Myers and to Cape Coral, Florida in 1970. Her husband became pioneer in the Arcade business which kept the family on the move. From there they moved to Denver, Colorado in 1971, moving to Milwaukee, Bayside, & Port Washington, Wisconsin from 1972 to 1975, then to Phoenix, Arizona until 1978, then to Lincoln City, and Newport, Oregon, Jean loved the northwestern part of the country, but in the end, they loved their family back in Phoenix more. They moved back to Phoenix in 1981, leaving there in 1996 and finally settling in San Marcos, California. Her husband John past away in San Marcos on October 18th, 1998, and was laid to rest at the San Marcos Cemetery, where Jean will be put to rest alongside him. Jean and John were married for 46 years, now together again, their journey continues.

Jean is survived by her four sons: Martin Ancona, John Ancona Jr., David Ancona, and Jay Ancona. Ten grandchildren: Nicole Catherine Ancona (Recently Passed), Sam Ancona, Christina Pantier, Jill Hanna,  Haley Ramos, Katelyn Ancona, Trevor Ancona, Aubree Dixon, Jacqueline Santana, Jeanne Ancona. Six great grandchildren: Ashley Pantier, Alexis Pantier, Kylie Hanna,  Lily Hanna, Delilah Dixon, Elliot Dixon. Nieces and Nephew: Julie Pritchard, Amy Kent, Katie Adams, and Donna Hoekstra, Richard Albright.
