McCARTY, John Charles "Jack" Age 85 of San Marcos, California, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2021. He was born April 17, 1936 in Xenia, Ohio, the son of the late Russell William and Alice (McConkey) McCarty. Jack graduated from Baker High School in 1954, where he was active in football and basketball. Jack served his country as a medic in the Army and received his bachelor's degree in business from Wright State University. Jack worked for Southwestern Portland Cement Company in Fairborn, OH before transferring to the Victorville plant in Southern California, in 1981. After retiring from Southwestern, Jack began a career in education and became a teacher working with students with Mild/Moderate Disabilities. A lifelong coach, referee and umpire, Jack was also an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Steven Russell, brothers William “Bill” McCarty; James “Jim” McCarty; nieces, Molly McCarty; and Melissa Campbell. Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn (Nay) McCarty; a daughter, Anne Catherine McCarty; a son, Jack Edward and his wife Seng McCarty; grandchildren, Melissa McCarty, Colin McCarty, Matthew McCarty, Zachary McCarty; Morgan McCarty; a great-grandson, Isaiah McCarty; sister-in-laws, Barbara McCarty of Ohio, Glendine McCarty of Texas, Martha Campbell of Greece; nephews, James (Theresa) McCarty, John McCarty; nieces, Sue (Will) McCarty Van Curan, Robin McCarty Light, Constance (Campbell) Ordeman; Elizabeth (Campbell) Gavala and Andrea Nay.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Mike officiating at Good Shepherd Anglican Church on the campus of Meadowlark Community Church, 1918 Redwing Street, San Marcos, CA 92078.
