Joseph Frederic Henriksen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully on June 29, 2021. Joe was born in Minot, North Dakota on September 26, 1928 and lived most of his life in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. He graduated from UCLA where he met the love of his life, Arline Allison. When he served as president of Sigma Pi Fraternity and she as social chairman at Alpha Delta Pi sorority, they met at a social event and it was love at first sight. They married in August 1952. Joe then served as a lieutenant in the US Navy in Japan and Guam during the Korean War.
He worked over 30 years for Pacific Telephone as a district manager for the ‘411’ directory assistance operators. After retirement, he sold real estate in Palos Verdes at Terra Properties. He enjoyed skiing, fishing and stamp collecting over the years. Joe and Arline were busy each fall as they were UCLA football season ticket holders for over 50 years and loved cheering with their family and friends. Joe and Arline were happily married for 63 years until her passing in 2016.
He is survived by his three daughters, Nancy Smith (John), Susan Frantz (Brian) and Janet Hershey (Dale). Joe also was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Matt (Rebecca), Lauren (Kelly), Kevin, Ryan, Jaclyn and Tyler. He met his newborn great granddaughter Brynlee Ava days before his death. The family would like to thank the staff at Silvergate Memory Care San Marcos for the tender, loving care of Joe.
There will be a gravesite service at Olivewood Memorial Park in Riverside on Monday July 12, 2021 to lovingly honor and remember Joe and Arline. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
