Joseph P Owen “Pat” was born in Orrick, Missouri on October 2, 1934. He graduated from Canton High School, Canton Missouri and then served in the United States Army as a radio operator and then serving in the Army Reserve until 1963. He was married to Edna C Sarff “Clar’ in 1960. The majority of his career was spent teaching geography and US History at East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, Illinois. At East Leyden he coached football, basketball, baseball, golf, softball and girls basketball. His Girls basketball team reached the Elite 8 in the 1982 IHSA State Basketball tournament. His boys golf team finished 10th in the IHSA State Golf tournament in 1977. He retired to St. George, Utah in 1993. In St. George he was a regular participate in the Huntsman’s World Senior Games in golf, softball and track and field. He also started a Senior Softball team that participated in tournaments throughout the South West. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother William. He is survived by his wife Clar and sons Jim and Steven and grandchildren Davis, Rylee and Noah.
