Judith Lynne Yakubek (Anderson) 81
Beloved Mother
February 16th, 1941 – December 20th, 2022
Judy passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Tuesday December 20th 2022 due to complications from pneumonia. She was comforted by family and other loved ones at the time of her passing. Judy was born in Flint, Michigan to Earle and Ruth Anderson, and along with her 4 year old big brother Richard would live at 2310 Sloan Street until her marriage at the age of 21. Tragically at the age of 9, she would lose her father to complications from a routine surgery. She graduated from Central High School in Flint at 17 years old. She began her travel agent career and continued to live with her mother while her brother married and started a family. Judy’s mother would pass away only 3 years after Judy’s high school graduation.
In 1962, at the age of 21, Judy would marry John Yakubek. They would soon move to southern California and settle in Torrance. Judy wanted nothing more in life than to be a mom. Unable to have children of her own, she and John adopted son Peter John on Jan 12th 1973 at the age of 3 days old. In 1976, they would move further south to San Marcos, California to be closer to their newly acquired avocado grove property in Valley Center. Judy would live in this same San Marcos home until the time of her passing. In 1982, Judy and John would separate and soon get divorced. Judy continued her travel agent career spanning several companies including KLM, British Airways, Air New Zealand, and Carlson Travel before retiring from Anderson Travel group. She also taught travel class at the local Mira Costa College. In 1995 Judy, welcomed her only grandchild, Ryan Philip Yakubek.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Earle and Ruth, and her brother Dick. Judy is survived by her son Peter (Kristi), grandson Ryan, nephews Matt (Lynette) Anderson and Chris (Sue) Yakubek, nieces Kelly (Joe) Savage, Kim (Rob) Webb, and Becky Bishop, and several grandnieces and nephews.
