Larry McCann passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer on May 30, 2021. Through all of this he never lost his positive attitude and faith (and who can forget that smile?)
He is survived by his wife Marta McCann and sons Michael and Mitchell McCann, daughters Sheena Allen,
Alison Hranek, and Nicole Marlin; along with 6 grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his father,
Bill McCann, Sr., mother, Janet McCann and brother, Bill McCann, Jr.
Larry served in the Navy for 6 years as a Surface Ship Nuclear Propulsion Plant Operator – Engineering Laboratory Technician and served on the USS Truxtun. He completed his navy service as a Machinist’s Mate 1st Class Petty Officer. He received his MBA from the University of Phoenix and worked for Southern California Edison at
San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station for 24 years and worked for the Decommissioning General Contractor until 2020.
Larry volunteered as a Scout Leader and continued to volunteer as a Scout Leader even after his boys reached Eagle Scout. He enjoyed bowling, loved traveling and discovered he had a knack for making stained glass.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 3:00 pm, Friday, July 9, 2021, at North Coast Church, 2405 Santa Fe Avenue, in Vista.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cancer Research of your choice in Larry's memory.
