Linda Kristine Mobley Kelsey, at 78 years of age, left this world on August 4th in Oceanside CA of an unexpected Aortic rupture.
She was born on October 24th, 1945, at St Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank CA. She was the eldest of three children born to Alfred Dale Mobley and Hilder Marion “Mary” (Swanson) Mobley. She and her siblings Karen and Greg were raised on Archwood Street in North Hollywood. While attending Vanowen First Baptist Church, she met Allan A. Kelsey as a child/teenager, as their families often interacted. When Linda was 12 years old, her family moved to Sunnyvale CA, as Dale was transferred with the Flying Tigers to San Francisco. Moving also reunited the Mobley and Blair families as her aunt and uncle (Helen and Jerry) and cousins had also relocated to the Bay area. After graduating from Freemont High School, she attended and graduated from Emray Cosmetology school. She worked as a beautician in the Bay area while living with her family at 820 Parnell Place. While Allan Kelsey was on leave from the Navy in SanFrancisco he became reacquainted with Linda. They struck up a romance and Linda would drive her Volkswagen to Treasure Island regularly to pick Al up. Al purchased her engagement ring at the ships store. They had a yearlong engagement, and were married on July 3rd, 1965, in San Jose CA. She returned with him to Southern California where she continued to work as a beautician up until she had her first of two children. She raised her family in Burbank CA, where they attended Emanuel Evangelical Free Church. When Kevin and Kristine were in school, she worked as a “Lunch Lady” doing food service work for Burbank Unified School District. In the spring of 1981, Linda returned to Sunnyvale to start a family business. Home Plumbing in Mountain View CA, run by the Heppler family, needed to move and expand. Linda and Al were convinced to create Home Electrical by her sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Pete Heppler. After Home Electrical closed, Linda worked as a “Teller” handling Commercial Accounts for a bank in Sunnyvale. In the early 90’s she opened Lion and the Lamb Christian Bookstore in Cupertino. While living in Sunnyvale she attended Foothill Covenant Church in Los Altos, and Peninsula Bible Church in Cupertino.
Linda and Al moved to Vista CA in 2008. She was instrumental in the Senior Lunch Ministry and volunteered in other opportunities to serve the community through North Coast Church in Vista. Throughout her life she was always active in church ministry, often working with babies, youth ( Child Evangelism, FC High School group), young adults (Twenty Something), Women (Bible Study Fellowship, Arise) peers (Life groups) and seniors. Often providing her home as a place of refuge to many. “Hi! I’m Mom!” was how she greeted many that crossed her threshold. Seeking out the solitary to befriend. She modeled the Fruit of the Spirit with her life.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents Dale and Mary Mobley. She is survived by her: Husband of 59 years Allan A. Kelsey, Son Kevin Kelsey (Roxanne) Grandsons Matthew, William and Alexander, Granddaughter Kaitlyn (Kristi & Keith Anton) Banfe, Daughter Kristine “Kristi” Banfe (Nick) Grandchildren Olivia, Nickie and Emma, Sister Karen Heppler (Peter), Brother Greg Mobley (Sherrie).
