Louis Bahun

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis Bahun of San Marcos, CA on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the age of 90.  Beloved husband and best friend of the late Cecilia Bahun.  Loving stepfather of Jairo I. Hernandez and father-in-law of Gladys Hernandez.  He was the proud grandfather to Jay Hernandez, Alex Hernandez, and Judy Hernandez, and the proud great-grandpa of Jay A. Hernandez, Madeline Hernandez, Isabel Hernandez, Julie Hernandez, Yvette Hernandez, Claudia Hernandez, Scarlett Dizon, and Roger Marquez-Hernandez Jr.   Louis was born on June 9, 1930 in Croatia (Yugoslavia at that time) to the late Terezija and Janko Bahun of Donja Voca, Ivanec, Croatia.  He is survived by brothers Thomas and Ruda, as well as sister Slavitza.  Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends in both Croatia and the United States.  Louis worked making handcrafted crystal chandeliers for Nesle, Inc. for over 35 years in New York.  After retiring he moved to California and volunteered his time alongside his wife Cecilia at the local Senior Center in San Marcos for 20 years, serving lunches to members. Louis enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time at the Senior Center, playing Kings Corners with his great-granddaughter Scarlett, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every evening.  He also enjoyed dancing and homecooked Colombian dinners.  Louis was above all passionate and proud of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Louis was a great man and a huge part of our family, who will be deeply missed.  We are lucky to have had him in our lives and will cherish the memories that we have of him and the great stories that he told.  Funeral service will be held at St. Marks Church in San Marcos, CA on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 12:00pm.  Interment will follow at San Marcos Cemetery.
