Martha Jordan Obituary
Martha Monica Jordan, 55, of Escondido passed away on October 26th, 2022 due to sudden heart complications. Martha was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of those around her. Her unexpected passing has deeply saddened her family and friends.
Martha was born on April 27th, 1967 to Salvador Gonzalez and Martha Merino Gonzalez in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. Martha spent her early childhood years living in Mexicali with her parents and three younger sisters, Ana, Alma, and Erika. In 1976, Martha's parents immigrated to the United States to live in El Centro, California. In the following years, her family moved to Seeley, where they welcomed her fourth and final sibling, Salvador.
Martha welcomed her first child, Fernando Knapp, into the world on March 2nd, 1985, and soon after, she met the love of her life, Gary Lynn Jordan, while working at K-Mart. Martha and Gary were married on January 5th, 1990, and began traveling the world together as Gary’s career in the United States Navy continued. Notable places that the Jordan family called home included Hawaii, Guam, San Diego, and Japan. While living in Guam, the Jordan’s were blessed with their second child, Briana Lynn Jordan, on January 31st, 1991. Over the course of their 32 year marriage, Martha and Gary shared many amazing memories, travels, and nights watching novelas and soap operas.
When Gary retired from the United States Navy, Martha and her family settled down in Escondido, California. She devoted her time to working in the guest services department at Babies R Us where her passion for supporting mothers and children reached beyond her family. While working there, she made great friends who would describe her as caring, fun, and loving. Most recently, Martha devoted her time to supporting adults with disabilities in their pursuit to access the work force and further develop their functional skills. The clients she served describe her as someone who was always willing to listen, eager to help, and a friend to all.
Martha filled her home with love, laughter, and delicious meals and desserts. In her free time, Martha enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, crafting, and spending time with her large family, where she was known for her big tight hugs.
Anyone who knew Martha, knew that she dedicated her life to supporting her family and caring for those around her. There will be a void in the world without Martha’s joy and abundance of love, and there are no words to express how much Martha will be missed by her family and friends.
Martha is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Fernando and Briana; grandson, Bryson; mother, Martha; father, Salvador; sisters, Ana, Alma, and Erika; brother, Salvador; and many loving nieces and nephews.
