Mary went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 25, 2022. She was born August 3, 1944, in Pueblo, CO to Harold C. LeVeaux and Martha Bratinić (Bratnick).
She graduated from South High School in Pueblo in 1962 and received a college scholarship while helping to care for her grandparents. She held a variety of jobs including switch board operator, casino cashier, EKG technician, and medical bookkeeper.
After living in Denver and Las Vegas, her family finally settled in Los Angeles. In 1977, after a 3-month courtship, she married Victor Provencio at Santa Monica Foursquare Church. Four years later, they welcomed their son, Philip. In 1985, the family moved to Oceanside, CA.
She was involved in church first as an elder at Lighthouse Foursquare Church in Santa Monica and then as a deaconess with the women’s and children’s ministries at Vista Christian Fellowship in Vista.
At home, she was Philip’s home school teacher from preschool through high school graduation. She was also the main caregiver for both her widowed mother and aunt.
During her life, she suffered many illnesses and hospitalizations. She had most of her stomach removed due to ulcers, a mastectomy, a pacemaker, and painful arthritis.
Even through that, she still was outgoing and eager to engage others in conversation. She talked with nurses, pharmacy technicians, and restaurant workers. She prayed with random people passing by the church, convinced a knife-holding robber she was a poor target, and even interacted with visitors on her last day.
Among her many other attributes were hospitality, kindness, and a fighting spirit. She opened her home to church disciples, a pregnant young lady, Japanese exchange students, and sick relatives. She sat with one relative in the VA Hospital in San Diego for several weeks. Yet, she held firmly to her principles and would clash with anyone who tried to cross them.
She enjoyed cooking her holiday feasts, tending her rose bushes, and traveling with Victor. Her lifelong passion was listening to Country music albums and watching westerns.
She was reunited in death with her parents; her aunt, Nellie McGill; her brothers, George LeVeaux and Harold W. LeVeaux; and her miscarried child.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Victor; her son, Philip; and her sisters-in-law, Martha Chairez, Lynn LeVeaux, and Debra LeVeaux.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.” John 11 : 25 - 26a
