Mary Ellen Verrett

Mary Ellen McIntyre Verrett passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family, on July 11, 2022 at Julia’s Cottage, La Costa at the age of 96.

Mary was born October 1925 in Greeneville Alabama to Mamie and Alfred McIntyre.  She had 5 brothers and sisters. 

She married Ray M. Verrett in 1945 and moved with him to various locations in the US as well as the Philippines and Alaska while he was serving in the Air Force, before finally settling in California in the 1960’s where she remained a resident for the remainder of her life.  They had five children; Cynthia Verrett Chiuminatta, Ray A. Verrett (deceased), Michael M. Verrett, Kaye Verrett Black and Cheryl P. Verrett. 

Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and never lost her love of life and traveling.    She was a beautiful and amazing lady her entire life and was loved by everyone who knew her.

She will be joining her husband Ray in the Riverside National Cemetery on July 26 at 11:00 am.    In addition to her 4 remaining children, she is survived by her 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Viewing services are at Allen Brothers Mortuary Vista on July 18, 1:00 – 4:00 pm; Celebration of Life mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Carlsbad on July 19 at 11:00 am.
