Maurice L. “Maury” Wilson passed away January 19, 2021. Maury was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on December 5, 1939, to his parents Clarke E. Wilson, Sr. and Leota (Wright) Wilson. Maury is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly Wilson, three daughters Michelle (Dave) Beddard, Lorie (Tim) Schlesener and Jill Helms, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother Mike (Janell) Wilson, one sister Ruth Bandy and many nieces and nephews. Maury is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kelly Wilson McCoskey, two brothers and three sisters. Maury was very close to his family and adored their company. Maury graduated from Wichita East High School with the class of 1957. He joined the US Navy and was very proud of his service to his country. He used the many lessons learned while in the Navy in his daily life. Maury, alongside his wife Bev, owned and operated a local NAPA store for many years. He was a hard working businessman and was well respected in the small business community in San Marcos and the surrounding cities. He participated in many community events and enjoyed being a part of the San Marcos Optimist Club. Maury was an avid dune enthusiast. He spent many weekends playing in the sand dunes with life long friends and family. Maury also loved reading, rebuilding automobiles and traveling. Many days were spent on the road, with his wife Bev, traveling the United States. He always found family along the routes they would take and loved spending time on the open road. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider a donation to the Elizabeth Hospice organization, located in Escondido, Ca. or to the American Sand Association, in memory of Maury Wilson.
