Monika Schuller, 66, of Carlsbad, California, passed away peacefully on December 11th, 2020 after a two year struggle with cancer. She was born on June 28th, 1954 in Judenburg, Austria to parents Frank and Elizabeth Zink. She went to nursing school at USC and enjoyed a long career as a Registered Nurse, working in the fields of home health and hospice. In 2015 she retired after 40 years.
Monika is remembered as a woman of boundless love and support, facing life’s challenges with humor and laughter. These are just a few of Grandma Polly’s magical gifts that brightened the world. She loved gardening, and she lived across the street from Leo Carrillo Ranch where she enjoyed listening to the peacocks call to one another. Peacocks became her spirit animal and they will always remind us of her. The family is planning to have a tree planted at the Ranch in memory of Monika. This will provide a place for friends and family to visit and always keep her close to her peacocks.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Cover of San Marcos, CA, parents Frank and Elisabeth Zink of Laguna Niguel, CA, and grandchildren Jake, Ethan and Andrew Cover of San Marcos, CA.
Due to Covid restrictions, the service will be limited to family. If you would like to send flowers they may be sent to Allen Brothers Mortuary by end of day on 12/16: 435 N. Twin Oaks Valley Rd, San Marcos, CA 92069 and they will be brought to the cemetery the morning of the service. Alternatively, flowers may be sent to her daughter Jennifer (878 Genoa Way, San Marcos, CA 92078) and she will bring them to the cemetery whenever they arrive in the future. Monika will be laid to rest with her daughter Jessica at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside.
