Nestor Santiago Sioson was born in Tinajeros, Malabon, in the Philippines, on August 29, 1937, to Santos and Mauricia Sioson. He entered eternal life on March 15, 2025, at 87 years old. Nestor was a resident of San Marcos, California. He enlisted in the United States Navy in October 1964 and served his country for 24 years.
Nestor then worked as a Senior Cook at the Vista Detention Facility for 12 years, supervising and teaching inmates how to cook. He was an active member of the Fil-Am Santo Niño Association at Saint Mark’s Catholic Church and also spent his time volunteering at the Lenten Fish Frys for the Knights of Columbus. He survived lung cancer during COVID then battled pancreatic cancer.
Nestor passed peacefully, surrounded by family. Nestor was preceded in death by his wife Lucia Sioson, and his siblings Victorino, Bernardo, and Zayda. Nestor is survived by his sister Aida, daughters Lanie and Anna; grandchildren Kristoffer, Lauren, Kiralynn, Jordyn Mae, Juliann, and Kyla-Justine; great-grandchildren Genevieve, Kaleb, Camilla, and Kaden. He is also celebrated by many caring, supportive, and loving friends.
Nestor loved going on his daily walks, fishing, playing pickleball and tennis with his best friends, cooking for his friends and family, and spending time with his great-grandchildren. He will be profoundly missed.
