Patricia Ann Baker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2020, at the age of 83.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Edward Robert Baker, and by their five children: Mary L. Baker (Debra Kossler), Robert E. Baker, Patricia L. (Baker) Delgado, Kathleen (Katt) Baker, and Laura M. Baker Fontenot. Patricia was a devoted grandmother to 12 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Bernadette Ott, and brother-in-law George Ott.
Patricia worked as a software engineer for General Dynamics, where she contributed to the early GPS programs. NASA later used some of the topography software she helped develop to create 3D maps of Mars. She was a pioneer in her field and took pride in her work.
She was renowned for her exceptional cooking, particularly her famous apple pies. Patricia was an adventurous cook who enjoyed trying new recipes and sharing her creations with family and friends.
Patricia loved to travel. During her husband's service in the Air Force, they lived in many different states and Japan. After retirement, she and Ed continued to explore the world together. One of their most incredible adventures was spending a whole year traveling across North America in their RV.
Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found deep happiness in spending time with them and watching them grow.
Patricia and Ed remained deeply in love throughout their 64-year marriage. They still held hands when they walked, a quiet and beautiful reminder of their lasting bond.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her spunkiness, intelligence, and the strong connections she created with those she loved.
