Randall Joseph Peck

    Randall Joseph Peck, known to most as Randy, age 76, of Oceanside, California, went to be with Jesus on June 19, 2026.

    Those who knew Randy will remember his friendliness, humor, testimony, and remarkable willingness to help. He earned two master’s degrees, one in Solid State Chemistry and one in Computer Engineering, but had you asked him about the most important part of his life, Randy would have pointed not to his education or career, but to his decision in his twenties to follow Jesus Christ.

    Randy was born on November 17, 1949, in Santa Barbara, California, to the late Leonard E. and Ann Beniger Peck. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Jan Peck; their sons and daughters-in-law, Jerome and Jessica, Joseph and Holly, and Benjamin and Chelsea; four grandchildren, Allie, Gabriella, Arlen, and Emily; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Marti Peck; his niece, Deborah Tillson; and his nephew, Justin Peck. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Peck.

    Randy and Jan began their married life in Tempe, Arizona, where Randy was completing his first master’s degree. Two years later, they moved to his hometown of Santa Barbara, where he worked at Santa Barbara Research Center. After seven years, they moved to Oceanside, the place they happily called home for the rest of his life.

    Randy worked for several companies before launching his own business building machine vision systems. He had a rare ability to understand how almost anything worked, and the skill to build, repair, or improve it. That gift extended far beyond his work. Randy was always willing to lend a hand, whether helping friends with repairs and projects, stopping to help someone broken down on the side of the road, or using his abilities to quietly serve the people around him.

    He was also a man who thought deeply and challenged others to do the same. Randy cared about truth, faith, and conviction, and he often encouraged people to examine what they believed and why. His conversations could be humorous, probing, philosophical, and deeply sincere—often all at once. Those who knew him will remember not only what he could fix with his hands, but also how he helped sharpen minds, strengthen faith, and point others toward Christ.

    Randy will be deeply missed. His family takes comfort in knowing that the faith he spoke of for so many years is now sight.
