Robert Bobbett Obituary

Robert Peyton Bobbett passed peacefully in his sleep and went to be with his beloved wife, Aimee Elizabeth, on March 27, 2012. Bob was born on June 16, 1920 to Lucien and Gertrude Bobbett of Horton Kansas. In 1923, the family moved to Los Angeles where his father opened and operated one of the first service stations in the Los Angeles area.

In 1936, the family which now included his only brother, Bill, moved to Vista, California where Bob remained most of the rest of his life. Bob graduated from Oceanside-Carlsbad High School. Shortly after graduation, he entered the apprenticeship program for the Santa Fe Railroad. While serving his apprenticeship in Escondido, his career was interrupted by World War II. At basic training in New Orleans, he met his wife Aimee. After a courtship of two weeks, they were married October 26, 1944 and started a life together that lasted 65 years until Aimee's death in 2010. After the war, he resumed his railroad career, advancing to the Station Agent and finally Station Master position at the Vista Santa Fe Depot until his retirement when the Vista depot closed in 1969. Bob his wife Aimee and their son Steve, lived in the Station Master's house until it was demolished and they then moved to their home on Yettford Road. Upon his retirement from the Railroad, Bob worked with his brother Bill, at Brown and Vogt Engineering Surveyors in Vista.

He is survived by his son, Stephen and daughter-in-law, Eileen; his grandchildren, Mike Nichols and his wife Kathy, Theresa Albright and her husband Dewey; and two great-grandchildren Andrew and Sam Nichols. In addition, Bob is survived by his brother-in-law, Claude Fusilier and his wife Elia of New Orleans; and various nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 4th, at Eternal Hills Cemetery, Oceanside, Calif.
