It is with great sadness that the family of Rogelio Armenta announce his passing. He will be dearly missed.
Rogelio Armenta, 76 years old, passed away peacefully at his home in San Marcos, California on February 2, 2025. He was born in Abasolo, Guanajuato Mexico on July 8,1948 to Apolinar Armenta and Maria del Refugio Magana de Armenta. He was the sixth of nine children. When he was a toddler, the family decided to move to Tijuana, Baja California Mexico. Rogelio met Michelle in Tijuana at a carnival and they got married on April 28, 1967 at the age of 17. He worked in construction for many years. You would always know when he would be getting ready for work because he would be whistling “it's a small world” at 4:30 in the morning. In his early years he enjoyed gardening and loved music of many different genres. He even was able to see the Rolling Stones live twice! Every once in a while he would give us a glimpse of some of his favorite dance moves from back in those days. Although he moved to California, Rogelio missed his family in Tijuana and would go visit several times a year, always doing everything he could to help support them. Rogelio and his late brother, Roberto, loved to take the family to the beach and on road trips to Aguascalientes. Rogelio lived a life full of happiness and playfulness – you can see the joy in his contagious smile when looking at his photos! He loved pulling pranks on his nieces and nephews and had funny nicknames for everyone in the family – some of his nephews eventually gave him one as well, PAPUCHO. In his later years, Rogelio enjoyed to do the daily drop off/pick up from school of his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play sports or musical instruments. He especially loved his daily cruises in the truck and walks around Woodland Park with his dog, Zoey. He also always looked forward to the annual Christmas Parade in Escondido. At gatherings with his immediate family, he enjoyed sipping on some beers while watching and taking in his family. Rogelio would smile, look at Michelle and say, "esta es mi familia", followed by a tear.
It brings his family comfort knowing that he will be reunited with his son, Dan, and his siblings, Meño, Elena, Ezequiel, Roberto, and Mario, in heaven. He is survived by his wife, Michelle, and children: Roy, Sam and his wife Shadi, and Leticia and her husband Ty; his grandchildren: Andie, Michael-Roy, Rosemary, Mariah, Sam Jr, Tony, Isaac, Olivia, Lucas, and Bella; his great grandchildren: Noah and Theo; and his siblings, Alicia, Tere, and Ruben.
