Rolando M. Francisco passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022. He was 83.
Rolando was born on December 11, 1938, in Tay Tay, Rizal, Philippines. He graduated from Nautical School and traveled the world as Chief Mate on a freighter ship. After 25 years in the shipping industry, he became an entrepreneur. He designed and manufactured doors that were custom made in the Philippines.
Through a mutual friend in the freighting business, he was introduced to the love of his life, Minda. In 1972, they were married and 2 years later welcomed their son, Rommel. Their daughters, Mary and Marcia followed shortly after.
Rollie was a devout Catholic. He was devoted to the Lady of the Barangay prayer group every Sunday for 28 years. He began the prayer group in New York in 1992. When he moved to California in 2007, he continued his devotion until 2020.
In addition to Minda, Rommel, Mary and Marcia, he is survived by his grandchildren Tyler, Malia, Abby, Maya, Griffin and Harper, as well as his daughter-in-law Barbra and sons-in-law Chad Seki and Andrew McGraime.
Funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton 6628 Santa Isabel St., Carlsbad, CA 92009 at 11am. Burial will be at San Marcos Cemetery 1021 Mulberry Dr. #A, San Marcos, CA 92069 at 1pm. Immediately following will be a late lunch with the location TBD. The family requests all those who plans to attend administer a rapid covid test the morning of and to please stay home if experiencing cold or flu like symptoms.
