Stanley D Oswald, age 76, passed away on May 29, 2019. He was born in Wisconsin and relocated to California with his family in the late 50’s. Stan served 5 ½ years in the US Army. He attended the Defense Language Institute at the Presidio of Monterey, CA where he studied Russian. He later became a helicopter pilot with the 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam and flew into the A Shau Valley during the 1968 Tet Offensive. After his Military service, Stan became an entrepreneur and business owner within the automotive repair industry in San Diego and Escondido, CA, retiring in 2005.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elayne of San Marcos, and son Bryan and his wife Amanda, of Vista; brother Lee (Kathy) of Florida; and sister Sandra (Ken) of Washington; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephew. Military Honor Services will be held June 28, 2019, at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations in his memory be made to the American Lung Association, or to any organization of your choosing.
