Thomas Troy Bowden went home to be with the Lord on April 7th, 2023 at the age of 90. Born at home in Miami, Oklahoma on May 13th, 1932, Troy attended Miami High School and Northeastern A & M College where he majored in Journalism. Temporarily interrupting his educational journey, he served in the US Army during the Korean War for 3 years. Upon returning to the States, he attended the University of Mexico in Mexico City and became fluent in Spanish. He met and married the love of his life, Mercedes Gomez Vasquez in 1958. After 23 years of teaching English for the Morongo School District in Yucca Valley, California, where he and his wife raised their 6 children, he moved to Escondido, California, to open Bowden's Auto Body. His later years were spent with his 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, traveling, and teaching Spanish at his local senior center.
He is survived by his sons Troy (Cherri), Alan (Merri), Sidney (Brenda), and his daughter Gianna (Steve). He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mercedes and daughters Maria and Melissa. A memorial service will take place at
Allen Brothers Mortuary in their San Marcos Chapel at 435 N Twin Oaks Valley Rd, San Marcos, CA at 1pm on April 27, 2023. Burial service will be at Joshua Tree Memorial Park at 60121 29Palms Hwy, Joshua Tree, CA on April 28, 2023 at 11 am. For a life well lived and a life well loved, Rest in Peace Dad, we love you.
