Obituary

     William G. (Sam) Watson, Jr. was born in Salt Lake City, UT. on November 29th, 1943. Willaim passed away on September 5th, 2023.

 

Sam grew up in Big Timber and Harlowton, Montana as the oldest of six children. Jean H. Kirchner, Ted Watson, Peggy L. Hopkins, Patric J. Watson, and Wynn Watson. Ted was killed in a tragic car accident at age 23.

     San joined the Montana National Guard in 1961, serving for eight years. He graduated from high school in 1962. He married his beloved high school sweetheart Kathryn A. Zikmund on June 6th, 1964. The ballplayer and the cheerleader. Sam did attend Eastern Montana College of Education in Billings, Montana for two years, majoring in business. 

     Sam and Kathryn raised two children, one son, William G. Watson III (Tania), and one daughter, Wendy A. Orlikowski. They were blessed with three grandchildren, William G. Watson IV, Ashley J. Watson, and Trevor R. Orlikowski, and great-grandchildren Olivia and Esme. One step-grandchild, Brittiny Nell, Tania's daughter and two great step-grandchildren, Annalise and Keagan Nell.

     The family moved to San Marcos, CA. in 1979 due to a job transfer as controller for Beatrice Foods CO. In 1983, Sam took employment as a field agent for The Knights of Columbus, serving for 27 years and retiring on January 1st, 2010, from this fraternal organization, where Sam was an honorary member of both the 3rd and 4th degrees.
